About Chris Smith

Chris Smith is the founder of The Divorcing Christian, a ministry and podcast dedicated to guiding believers through the spiritual and emotional challenges of divorce with biblical wisdom, grace, and truth. A sought-after speaker, Chris engages churches and Christian organizations on the complexities of marriage, divorce, and faith, offering insight, healing, and hope to those navigating life after divorce.

Chris is currently pursuing his Master’s in Theology at Harding University, deepening his understanding of biblical principles to minister more effectively to those in need. As a practicing attorney, he has earned national recognition for his work in high-conflict family law and custody litigation. He is a Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent peer-review-rated attorney, a Journal Record Achiever Under 40. He has been named to the Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2014-2020 and a Super Lawyer in the most recent editions of Super Lawyers magazine. Best Lawyers in America have also recognized him for his excellence in Family Law.

Chris’s legal practice spans Oklahoma, Texas, and the Western United States. He represents individuals in high-stakes custody disputes, parental alienation cases, complex asset divisions, and appeals. He was instrumental in shaping Oklahoma’s parental equality laws, contributing to the passage of House Bill 1151 in 2021.

Beyond his legal career, Chris is deeply committed to civic and faith-based service. He has served on the boards of the Oklahoma Institute of Child Advocacy and the Oklahoma Christian National Alumni Council and was a member of the Oklahoma Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He also dedicates time as a Senior Counselor at Oklahoma American Legion Boys State.

Chris is the author of Faithfully: Marriage, Divorce, & Family in the 21st Century Church, available on Amazon. His personal journey, combined with his professional experience, equips him to speak with authority and empathy. He helps Christians find redemption, restoration, and renewed faith amid life’s greatest trials.
